So much history in this iconic place! without doubt the main connection point and heart of The city, still the main connecting hub for many destinations outside Bangkok and around Thailand with plenty of bus and mini vans, around the area also many shops and markets, avoid the rush hours though 😊

If you go to Bangkok on a backpack trip (not traveling with taxis or holiday travel) you will end up to this place a lot of time to change bus.. Not an exceptional place, but quite nice for sightseeing for a little while, there are some food stalls around that you can try too

Impressive roundabout with the victory monument. Nice to see when you pass by but not really worth a detour. I found watching the traffic more interesting than the monument itself.

อนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิ (Victory Monument) View from BAIYOKE The monument was erected in June 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War. The fighting between the Thais and the French in December 1940 and January 1941 had been brief and inconclusive. Today, The monument is one of Bangkok's major traffic intersections. There is a BTS Skytrain station of the same name to the south of the Monument. Many Bangkok BMTA bus lines stop around the monument's traffic circle.
