Shing Hey Wong

Amazing staff but not really amazing. It's called staff because they are paid. Or actually are they getting paid money wise? Because they are so uninterested in their job. No smile was to be found on all of the reception staff including the supervisor. But I did get a big room for the price of small single. And I got a sweet one hour later check out deal. All I had to do was ask. She was depressed about life I reckon. Hotel is nowhere near new. Very old and a lot of wear and tear. The shower has no hot water but rather lukewarm. The beds are comfortable to me but there were some itchy times after a while. I think this is due to the non replacement of the bedsheets. Rooms can be very noisy in the morning due to the location and the doors of the entrance is practically like Swiss cheese. I think you should avoid this place at all costs. I paid less for a lot better room and a lot more smile.

The room was comfortable but the view was of a building site. The lighting was too dim for my taste too. And the shower head in the bathroom pointed out not down. Little things but they add up. The location was nice and central with easy access to sky train, the value was good and the hotel does have a rooftop pool and gym and a reasonable restaurant. Maybe it deserves a 4 but my gut gave it a 3

Pros: good location, just next to skytrain station, large room and bathroom, safe box in a room, AC, mini fridge, there's place to put your clothes, 7/11 convenience store just downstairs, McDonalds just few steps further, SiLom Shopping Centre 10-15 min away. Cons: breakfast (buffet) all the same each day (even on Christmas), a bit weird offer of food for European, bathroom started to smell on third day, there's karaoke bar downstairs across the street but luckily they close at midnight.

Condition of the room was pretty poor. Livable, but there was a smell to it and the design was very dated and in a very worn condition. The rooftop pool is ok, but would not recommend for any longer than 1 night. The location is fantastic though!

This place is badly managed, it coasts along sustaining business on the back of a good location. Little to no genuine effort made by management staff. Oh theres lots of apparent activity but little to show for it. As always it is the "coal face" workers (waiters and porters) who undeservedly bear the brunt of customer dissatisfaction. The hotel would run much better if the entire management staff stayed at home.
