Chinatown is a location that covers a large part of Haymarket. The epicentre is Dixon St...A mall area lined with restaurants...some good and some not so good. Some expensive and others more moderately priced Have a good explore around this district and sus out what's available. There are some good yum cha places in the district. Nearby is Paddy' Market....not my favourite place. However, within the market is the greengrovery market and a fish market both very good value and best quality. There are bbq shops selling cha su and duck and soya chickens and other delectable bbq items all over Haymarket. 99% are excellent. The other good thing is there are dozens of mini Chinese Supermarkets dotted around the place. Great for picking up spice, tea, and crockery. Beware, many of the little supermarkets are cash only (not so great). Finally, you must take a trip to The walled Chinese Gardens nearby. They are stunningly beautiful, full of tranquility, an escape from the business of life. Take your time so that you able to explore the plant and birdlife and the beautiful structure of the garden. Their is a small entry fee here and concession for pensioners. You can take tea by the lake and a light meal here. Enjoy China town and the beautiful culture that it represent within the Sydney.

Lovely atmosphere, huge choice of places to eat, proper Chinese food served in the traditional way. Tends to be a bit expensive, but Sydney is a bit expensive on the whole, but well worth a visit.
