The perfect tea house to go to on a chilly fall day. Order some delicious Assam tea or Green tea, their dessert sampler with a friend and you're all set. Each item is prepared with such simplicity but has such depth of flavor- its truly amazing. If you love tea and like exploring tea houses, this is a definite go to!

This place is a shell of its former self. I sat at the bar and watched the kitchen microwave food to order. The "matcha latte" was like a tepid bowl of yesterday's soup- not surprising since the bartender pours it out of a plastic jug and microwaves it rather than making it properly with tea, water, and whisk. So sad... I used to love this place, but the execution has strayed far from the concept. The only redeeming factor is the interior.

Excellent tea, delicious home-made mochi, and a great setting. I could easily bring a book and spend an afternoon (if they had room).

Great dessert or tea place for dates, for having coffee with your father in law, or with an old friend. Why would anyone go to a Starbucks or even a Teavana with this nearby? It's quiet - low BGM and low talking volume and low street noise. Decor is Japanese, but not Orientalist. Large tea menu. Generous pricing. You get one entire pot, enough for 4 or 5 whole teacups, with each order. Great desserts too. Not too sweet and not too large. There food menu looks good too, though I haven't tried it personally. Service is terrific. Fast and considerate. Facilities are very clean. Minus one star just because I think there's still opportunity for improvement. I can't point my figure at anything specifically because everything is done so well. But, it lacks any wow factor. Perhaps my standards are far too high, but if this shop was located in Tokyo, I wouldn't think anything of this place. It only shines because it's located in NYC.

This place has a really eclectic menu, with great dessert options. However, it gets pretty crowded and the wait tends to extend past 30 minutes, even at 9pm at night on a weekday. I would recommend calling ahead to reserve by phone (if they allow it) Grab a seat by the window as well
