The smells are just amazing wandering around this souk in the old city part of Dubai. It is not easy to find the place, but once you get there you will find good bargains for souvenires, can try different spices (they are nice and explain everything, even if you don't buy from them), will find incents, saffran and everything they are trading with for a long time here. The souks in Dubai are nothing to compare to Grand Bazar in Istanbul, but hey, this is a different city!! And actually youz can see just a few steps away how it actually works here, they are trading, and selling most things wholesale, the market is only for tourists but you can get better deals than in the malls.

As a travel agent I get to see the world. The souk is hard to find if you are a tourist. The smells are delicious and the surprises are the basic tourist trap goodies. It's in a mall and not the arab market I thought I was going to find. This is in a nice mall with air conditioning and no bargaining here. It's all prepriced and key chains, small statues of camels and knick knacks. They have spices in barrels to choose from if you want to bring it back. You can just as easily shop in any market that sells food.

Faierly interesting. About as authentic and old town as Dubai gets. I am biased as we have been to Istanbul and the Grand Bazaar where the Spice souk is really much more vibrant and the Bazaar itself is massive... This short block or so of a market in Dubai is not as extensive as you think and not all the interesting. We were a bit disappointed. Still interesting for Dubai.
